— Door V — Compassion — Reflect

Look around you at your family, your classes and your friends. What do you notice about how they interact with one another? Are they connected in empathy, sympathy or disconnected in apathy? What about you?

Has someone ever shown you empathy? Have you ever felt compassion for someone, or experienced a time when someone was compassionate to you?

Can empathy be a step to compassion?

Everyone has been hurt. When you’ve made the choice to forgive someone (not to say it’s all OK, but to move on in your own life), how did this make you feel? How did you find the courage to forgive?

How can compassionate communicate help you get your own needs met?

Document some specific time when someone has been empathic or compassionate with/for you.

Think of a time when you were hurt, or hurt someone, and describe how you felt.

Can you think of a time when compassionate communication has worked out well for you?
